Dynautics has developed a GSM modems communications architecture to exploit the GSM network which extends over coastal regions and can be used for command and control for many applications.
One key advantage of this approach is that there is no need for the ground station to be linked to its own GSM modem, as the communication channel is established over the internet. This means that the operator workstation can be located almost anywhere, as long as there is internet access.
The Dynautics GSM modems use a central hub and operator workstations log into the hub. This enables multiple workstations to observe the mission simultaneously, so pilots in different locations can readily hand control over from one to the other.
